When I wake I’m about to pimp West Hall out after having a waffle for breakfast! We are officially opening up in the morning and it is gonna be awesome. We already have so many great people in West and we are about to get the other half of them. I seem to get excited about move in day and just being a huge help! Now I better flip this biscuit and go to bed because I gotta get up early!
So yesterday was our last day of training and I got to be an actor in Behind Closed Doors (BCD)! It was awesome because I got the party room. We threw everything at them and a lot of them did an aweesome job of handling the situation even with our constant nonsense. The four of us in the scenario kept switching off who got to play Beercules, with 2 cans taped to our hands. Big shout out to How I Met Your Mother!
Tomorrow is the last day of training!!!! Only thing left is a little behind closed doors!! I get to act out a scenario though so really, no more training for me!!!
This is gonna be short. Training has slowed down this week and has been a little boring and hard to stay awake throughout the presentations. There have been some good interactive sessions but still very long days, at least 12hrs this week. I just want to give another shout out to the awesome staff that I am apart of. Especially all 3 of our new staff members who are bosses already and I have a ton of confidence in them and I believe that they are going to be awesome RAs. I also just had a great talk about my passion for ResLife with a fellow RA that was on staff last year and we were talking about how awesome our staff is and how passionate we are about students and helping them develop as well as developing ourselves as leaders. And just a little plug, idk how many of the rest of you out there use strengths quest but it is a great tool that our whole campus is utilizing especially ResLife. It helps with team building as well as learning your leadership skills and help you understand why you do things the way that you do them. Anyways I’m already up too late and this turned out longer than I thought. Happy training to all!
So this year in training everything is going fairly well. It has been a lot more enjoyable than it was last year. The sessions that we have gone to have been way more interactive and engaging. Our whole Reslife staff is awesome, especially the student staff training committee. Mad props to them! But the even better part of this training is all the staff bonding that I have been doing. West Hall staff is awesome!!!! We have been bonding so much and most of it hasn’t even been intentional. We just end up hanging out together and doing fun stuff and having great laughs. That’s were some true bonds are made. I’ve even had the opportunity to talk and hang out with most of them on time. I also don’t want to forget to mention our awesome supervisors! Especially my new supervisor who is too freaking cool! Our whole staff is coming up with great ideas for programming, more efficient ways of doing things, and even awesome RA videos. So there is some awesome stuff to come from the West Hall this year so stay tuned! It’s about to go down!
|
||So i pulled an all nighter with another staff member last night when we had training this morning at 8am. i was just acting in behind closed doors but somehow Im still awake and functioning!
|
Well, the time has come… It’s time to get the all RA party started! If you’re an RA let’s get our butts over to this training party! It’s gonna be a blast! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…. Oh I’m sorry I’m awake just gotta keep drinking coffee! Sorry I haven’t been posting anything lately because I’ve been traveling like crazy this month and it has been AWESOME! Starting on Monday I’ll try to post more frequently, that’s when training starts and I’ll be back in the full RA state of mind! Getting pumped up to be with the staff and getting to know the new people! 2 more days at home and I still have a ton to do!
If you are looking for a fun staff bonding outing here’s a great idea! My staff took a little roadtrip to a ceramics store and our RLC let us pick an item that was up to $20. Once we all picked our piece they gave us the paint and we were able to decorate our piece in our own unique way! then we left them there to get fired and our RLC picked them up for us. It was a lot of fun and we went out for lunch at a local buger shack that was delicious!!
RA training starts in 16 days for me. I can’t wait for it to begin. I’m surprised that I’m actually excited but I’m ready to get with my staff and start being awesome and figure out how we are going to be the hall of the year (HOTY) for the 2nd year in a row!
